Context
The portable projector unit, nick named, “The Dalek” is a product used mostly by Art, Architecture and Design lecturers at the University of South Australia. It is a projector encased in an oversized trolly that is used as a visual aid for class presentations. The Dalek includes a laptop, projector, speakers, and all the necessary hook ups to connect the internet, audio and visual components. We were given the task of re-designing this product because it has earned the name of an aesthetically displeasing, inefficient, frustrating, complex, incompatible projector. The process of re-designing the projector will include a research and analysis phase, concept phase, testing and model iterations followed with the final design proposal. I plan to focus on improving the portability and ease of use for the final model.  |  |
